When you’re cleaning your home, you may also want to get your bed clean. So you may ask: How To Clean Memory Foam Mattress Topper?

It is important and necessary to keep your mattress and/or mattress topper clean if you want to stay healthy and have better sleep.

An accumulation of allergens, dust mite, toxic and bacteria in even the most comfortable bed can cause trouble with your sleep. In other words, cleaning your memory foam mattress and topper is essential to avoid trouble. Therefore, if you want to stay healthy and be free from other troubles, you should keep your mattress and topper clean. However, it can be a boring task, but you should do it only when needed.

You may feel confused and don’t know what to do to get it done if it is the first time you are cleaning your memory foam mattress and topper. However, you don’t need to have major skills to clean your memory foam mattress topper. Luckily, it is possible to use water to clean your memory foam mattress topper efficiently without letting the memory foam absorb too much of it. Mostly, you just need to be able to dab and rinse.

It is not recommended to use a washing machine to wash memory foam mattress topper simple because of its size. One of the most effective method can be used is Manual Cleaning.

Things You’ll Need for Manual Cleaning

  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Mild laundry detergent
  • Spray bottle
  • Clean cotton cloth

How To Clean Memory Foam Mattress Topper

1. Take It Off the Bed

The first thing you should do is to find a clean place such as an area that has good air circulation (a well-ventilated area). Then you need to take memory foam mattress topper off the bed if you want to get it clean completely. Remove it from the bed and put it at the clean place. You may need to place something underneath to protect it from water and other dirty things.

2. Clean the Dust and Debris

Use vacuum cleaner to get rid of dust and debris. Make sure you use vacuum cleaner which has a hose attachment. Vacuum any dust and debris in circular motions. Work carefully to get rid of dust and debris completely without deforming your mattress topper. Don’t let it stay in one place too long

3. Spot Clean

If your memory foam mattress topper has stains, you can get rid of them completely by using mild laundry detergent, warm water, and a clean cotton cloth. To get rid of stains, you should combine a small amount of mild laundry detergent and a clean and wet cotton cloth together. Gently dab at the stain until stains are removed.

4. Spray, Don’t Soak

Instead of soaking the memory foam (which is not recommended), you should use a spray bottle to spray the mattress. Use a spray bottle with mild laundry detergent and warm water – (the ratio is usually 1:2) to spray the entire surface. Wait for a few hours before going to the next step.

5. Remove Detergent

Use a dry and clean cotton cloth to soak up the detergent: press it down on the mattress and rinse the cloth. Repeat the process until the detergent is completely removed.

6. Flip Mattress Topper

Use a spray bottle with detergent mixture to spray the underside of the memory foam. Wait for several hours to let it dry; then use a dry and clean cotton cloth to dab until all the detergent is cleaned away.

7. Dry It Out

Lay the topper flat in a well-ventilated area to let it dry naturally for about 24 hours. This will help prevent your memory foam from any sorts of mildew.

Cleaning Tip:

It is recommended that you should only deep clean your memory foam products about once a year at most. Only clean your memory foam products if there has been a spill by accident.
